Is anyone else under pressure from family to attend the Memorial? If so how are you handling it? What did you say? In my family's case the truth might be too blunt and I dont' know how to soften the blow. Any suggestions?

"In the Heat of the Night" - that scene when Sidney P slaps the cop back was priceless. "Oliver" - Made me cry "Wuthering Heights" - creepy love My all time favorite is "Pride and Prejuidice" - Love wins out. And of course nobody does it like Fred and Ginger :) Victorian Sky

Would you want to live in a Kingdom under the Duds?
by Maverick inone of the 'problems' i had before blackguard deprogrammed me was i could not reconcile the actions of the j-dud masters with a loving god.
i felt if god was with these people i did not want to live in any new system under this power structure.
if god was as phoney, vengeful, and petty a person as his faithful and discreet slave was i was better off dead.

Let's see... One of these future 'Princes' counseled one of my friends that her lipstick was too red, a sister told me my skirt was too short because it didn't trail passed my toes it was - God forbid - at the knee line. Another royal pain mocked my 12 year old brother (at the time) for making an incomplete comment and he did this from the platform. I dated one of these future 'Princes' who counseled me for having an independent attitude and a sister who told me I would die at Armageddon for going to college. Live forever with these controlling, judgemental freaking people? Hell no! - Victorian Sky

Blondie, Thanks - interesting. The avalanche of guilt dumped on JWs is amazing. I didn't pick up on the 'we're the extra special annointed class and the great crowd get to drink our holy bath water' mentality until I started having doubts a few years ago. So much of it sounded arrogant and smug. There is so much effort to bring people in and not enough love or personal interest to keep them. After baptism if you don't measure up few care if you're alive or dead because they've already written you off. The lack of love is staggering compaired to the claims they make. An example: When my mom was disfellowshiped she took care of my 'unbelieving' gran when she was sick, helped with meals, did housecleaning and slept over until gran got well in sharp contrast to one of my aunts (married to an elder) who didn't get around to visiting her mom for days even though she lived 5 minutes away! So there's a load of talk about love and no action to back it up.- Victorian Sky

What's The STRANGEST Thing You've Seen At A Kingdom Hall?
by minimus ini saw a fight break out on the platform between an elder and a unbelieving husband who accused the elder of f---ing his wife.
he then threw the lectern on the floor and pushed the elder.
it was cool.......

This brother used to make comments that would make the watchtower conductor cringe. He always avoided calling on him but this sunday he took a chance. The subject was marriage and fidelity. The brother cleared his throat loudly in the mike and said, 'A man has to please his woman, he's gotta put on some Barry White, turn down the lights, get his mac on, you know, create the mood, that way she doesn't try and get some on the side' You couldn't hear a pin drop then a few of us (me included) burst into laughter. The conductor took several deep breaths before saying 'Next paragraph.'

Rob (he gets on my nerves) made an alliance with Deena I think her name is - the older one on the former all female tribe. Oh and before Shawna hit the road, all the young people took a bath and that skeletal Jenna said, 'If my bikini gets me further in the game...' (Maybe 'cause I'm a girl but I don't thinks she's all that, Heidi is another bag of bones with a strange face) The other tribe is so nice to Christy and Butch told her, 'You don't have a disability to us' wonder how Heidi feels after she ignored the girl when in the all female tribe. What goes around...

Bluesbrother, I feel for you sitting through all those meetings, does your wife have any idea how you feel about the borg? Purple V - Thanks, that makes sense, I'm not a JW anymore and thank God for that! So why think like one? I know it takes time to shake off all the old beliefs but I'm determined to try, Thanks again to everyone for sharing their experiences and insight. I really appreciate it.

by liquidsky inmy mother called me last night an begged me to go to the meeting tomarrow.
she has asked me to go numerous times during the last year, and i have made excuses everytime of why i can't attend.
last night she begged so i'm thinking that theres either a local needs talk that she wants me to hear or its the co visit.

Dear Liquidsky, I understand your dilemma. My mom would freak if I don't go to the memorial (along with several relatives) Mom wants the family to stick together. I haven't been to a meeting in 5 months and the thought of going back even for an hour makes me nauseous. I hate the guilt, feeling that I've somehow failed them, don't want to hurt them and so forth. They won't die if I don't go and I won't die if I do go. I would love to have the courage to just say no. After all, we're adults and whose life is it anyway? - Victorian Sky

Thank you all for your replies. ((Valis)) - Isn't it amazing that baptism is supposed to be the most important step of your life, more so than marriage, but they allow children as young as 8 to make a life long decision! You were 14,(I was 16) Then when you grow up they hold you to it. Crazy. ((Rayzor)) - thanks. It's something to think about - why should I let them have authority over me? Why follow their rules when it's my life?

Nearly fell off my chair when Charlie was given the boot. I thought Corey, Julia and Carmen were terrible and somehow they squeaked through. Charlie didn't deserve this but he's talented and he'll get opportunities from all the exposure on the show.
